Monday, August 9, 2021 7:30 PM CT Francis Menotti has been astounding audiences internationally since 2000. His highly innovative, intelligent presentations are sought by prestigious clientele from the sound stages of Hollywood to the Oval Office, the Hollywood Magic Castle to Fortune 500 companies. As a consultant for film, television, and other magicians, Francis created all of the magic for ABC's crime drama, Deception. A powerful performer in his own right, Francis can be seen in front of the camera fooling Penn & Teller on their hit show Fool Us, (in 2015 and 2020) and on Masters of Illusion in 2019. Check out his Fool Us appearances and his performances at the Magic Castle at these links: Fool Us 2015: https://youtu.be/JVrUJ4W98Ps Fool Us 2019: https://youtu.be/ijQO7ZQcneo Francis Menotti YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/fjmenotti/videos Zoom Info: Provided to Club Members via Email We all know Harry Houdini's signature appears on Assembly 3's charter, and we also know the Assembly is named for some person named "Werner F. Dornfield."
About Houdini we know virtually everything, but who was this "Werner F. Dornfield,?" Why was he so special they named Assembly 3 after him? These questions are the subjects of the July 5th Assembly 3 meeting. We look forward to seeing you there. Zoom Info: Provided to Club Members via Email When appearing before any audience, much like a job interview -- or perhaps like that first time you met your girlfriend's parents -- you have one chance and one chance alone to make a good first impression. This is why the first effect -- your "opener" -- is one of the two most important tricks in your entire repertoire.
So what's the second most important trick? The answer is obvious -- it is your closer, the effect that sends the audience away enthusiastically proclaiming what a great magician you really seem to be. On Monday June 7th we're going to forget all those complicated magic effects in between, and concentrate on the best ways to start, and finally end a magic set. Whether an act runs three, thirty, or forty-five minutes, the performer has to decide on the most effective opener and closer. These two effects (and how to choose them) are the subjects of the June 7th Assembly 3 meeting. We look forward to seeing you there and getting your ideas for the best openers and most provocative closers. If you've heard of Jon, I'm sure you've already set aside time to be there, but if you haven't, I highly encourage you to do so. Not only does he have great material, he is a true worker with amazing ideas of how to make your magic better, along with great bits of business along the way. I look forward to seeing you there!

For best results, create a free Zoom account and use a computer with a microphone, camera, and headphones. An iPhone or Android smartphone will also work. Members without either can dial-in by phone to participate aurally only. Tonight's meeting will discuss theory, practice, and maybe even the philosophy of holiday magic. Do some holidays inherently invite displays of conjuring? Are there some holidays for which magic shows are inappropriate? What are your favorite holiday effects? Do you have a few holiday works in progress? Come prepared to share your ideas and to (constructively!) critique others' effects. Keep in mind, we're talking about magic for any holiday - Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, Arbor Day... unleash your creativity!
