When appearing before any audience, much like a job interview -- or perhaps like that first time you met your girlfriend's parents -- you have one chance and one chance alone to make a good first impression. This is why the first effect -- your "opener" -- is one of the two most important tricks in your entire repertoire.
So what's the second most important trick? The answer is obvious -- it is your closer, the effect that sends the audience away enthusiastically proclaiming what a great magician you really seem to be. On Monday June 7th we're going to forget all those complicated magic effects in between, and concentrate on the best ways to start, and finally end a magic set. Whether an act runs three, thirty, or forty-five minutes, the performer has to decide on the most effective opener and closer. These two effects (and how to choose them) are the subjects of the June 7th Assembly 3 meeting. We look forward to seeing you there and getting your ideas for the best openers and most provocative closers. If you've heard of Jon, I'm sure you've already set aside time to be there, but if you haven't, I highly encourage you to do so. Not only does he have great material, he is a true worker with amazing ideas of how to make your magic better, along with great bits of business along the way. I look forward to seeing you there!
